AI tools have become an important complement to streamline our work processes here at Mild. Together with our other work tools, the AI tools provide room for thinking outside the box. At the same time, we get more time for creative processes, because the AI tools can help us work more efficiently. We’ve previously talked about how AI helps us move forward more efficiently in the copywriting process – now we want to explore some of the AI tools used by our designers.
Photoshop Beta/Adobe Firefly
Photoshop Beta and Adobe Firefly are two powerful tools used as a complement by our designers for image editing and image creation. With functions such as “generative expansion”, it is easy to adjust images that have the wrong ratio or when the object is too close to the edge. This is especially useful when more background is needed to balance the composition.
Another function, “generative fill”, is good for adding or removing elements in an image. Johanna, digital designer at Mild, explains how the function works:
– Imagine you have a perfect image for a Halloween campaign, but the image is missing pumpkins. With “generative fill” I can easily insert pumpkins into the image, or maybe add party hats to people in a party image. This tool is smart when you need to make small but significant adjustments to an image.
Midjourney
Midjourney is especially useful for replacing stock images. Instead of relying on generic images from a public image bank, Midjourney can generate unique images in a new style based on an existing image. This could mean, for example, creating a cartoon version of a person or developing graphics for a website.
Johanna primarily uses Midjourney to bring design projects to life:The tool is excellent for getting inspiration for new design projects. I use Midjourney in projects where I need to think outside the box and come up with new solutions. Sometimes we all get stuck, with this tool I can move on more easily when it simply locks up.
ChatGPT
With DALL E 3 we create illustrations. With its ability to generate detailed and creative images, the DALL E 3 is perfect for creating unique illustrations that can be used in various types of design projects.
Illustrator Beta is another important tool in our design projects. The program is used to convert text into vector format, which is essential for creating scalable and editable text elements in design projects. This is especially useful for logos, graphic elements, and other design components where text quality and scalability are paramount.
The use of AI tools at Mild is a natural part of our everyday life. It allows more time for creativity and makes us more productive. With these tools we produce simpler illustrations, text and get help with some image editing. AI’s continued development means that we can expect even more innovative uses for these tools, for even more projects.
