RESEARCH CONSOLIDATIONSTRATEGIES FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT OF YOUR PRODUCT

The research consolidation stage is the time to observe patterns and organize relevant insights so that they can be consumed and help guide the development of the solution.

In analysis and synthesis, we prioritize findings and learnings, share stories, and create a coherent summary of what was learned. This step allows us to reach consensus with the team on the learnings and make a diagnosis of the journey “as it is”.

By consolidating research results, it is possible to organize and analyze data in order to improve results and decide on choices that truly meet users’ needs.

In the following reading, you will understand the importance of transforming raw data into actionable strategies, as well as learn about tools that can help you optimize processes to create successful products.

Let’s go?

The power of data
Have you ever heard the saying “information is power”? The same applies to data-driven decision-making. Data analysis is the foundation of any research, allowing you to transform information into valuable insights, identifying patterns, trends and correlations that guide strategic decisions based on concrete evidence. That’s why it’s crucial to understand, analyze and transform raw data into actionable strategies.

By analyzing raw data, companies can continually improve their products, adjusting them to market needs and expectations, which can lead to significant competitive advantages.

Furthermore, they make it possible to measure the performance of various initiatives and adjust them as necessary, ensuring that objectives are met. Finally, these strategies are more sustainable in the long term, as they are based on real information and adaptable to changes in the market and consumer preferences.

Well, now that you understand the importance of transforming raw data into actionable strategies, it’s time to learn about some tools that can help you optimize processes and create successful products.

New call to action

Organization tools and processes
There are currently several ways and tools to organize data. This can be done digitally, using tools such as Miro or Mural , or physically, using panels.

Insight Cards , for example, are records of reflections based on real research data. Other tools, such as Crazy 8’s or How We Might (HMW) , help you turn research data into tangible design challenges.

When documenting, use color codes, separate quotes, observations and ideas, and use tags and emojis to make them easier to view and interpret.

During the data consolidation process, it is recommended that the team use an affinity map . This technique is used to organize information and identify patterns from a large volume of qualitative data. The goal is to group ideas, problems, solutions or observations based on their similarities, creating a visual structure that facilitates the identification of insights and trends.

To apply the affinity map , distribute all the post-its with the results and insights from the research on a wall (real or virtual) as a team. Look for ideas that seem related, place them side by side, reflect and repeat until all the post-its are grouped together.

Involve the entire team in the grouping process to get different perspectives and ensure that all aspects are considered. After the first grouping, talk to your team about the themes and patterns in each set of sticky notes.

It’s important to be open-minded and willing to move post-its between groups as new patterns emerge. So take photos or digitally capture the final affinity map for future reference and to share with stakeholders.

By using this technique, product teams can organize complex information in a visually intuitive way, facilitating safer decision-making and continuous innovation.
